I was talking to a friend recently and he told me his mother had to stop cleaning houses. “It was all the chemicals,” my friend said, “the doctor told her that if she didn’t want to die, she needed to stop cleaning.”
Housecleaning is hard, physical work – but it should be chemical-laden. We don’t need bleach in any form, especially not in Soft Scrub where it can get absorbed through our skin and also into our lungs.
Mix a small box of baking soda with 1/2 teaspoon of your favorite essential oil in a jar. Seal it and shake to combine. Then you can simply shake out a little into a sink, bathtub, or toilet bowl for some extra scrubbing power, without the bleach, and full of fresh scent.
I usually go through a pound of baking soda a month this way. It’s inexpensive and gets the job done!
My cleaning clients often remark about how clean it smells when I am done. Just a little essential oil goes a long way!
