Apple Crisp

We have all done it – bought a bag of apples on sale and then run out of apple-eating steam halfway through.

Wondering what to do with those tired apples? Don’t let them go to waste, make an apple crisp!

  • 5 cups of apples, cored, peeled, and sliced
  • 2-4 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 tsp each of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ground ginger

Combine apple slices and sugar into an 8 inch baking dish. In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar, oats, flour, and spices. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add in pecans.

Pour topping over sliced apples and bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes.

Serve over ice cream. I served it over homemade coffee ice cream. It was to die for!
